Sample Excerpt: "ON-HOLD" MESSAGE SCRIPTS for INFOGRAPHIX TECHNOLOGIES

Short scripts heard while customers are on hold at Infographix, designed to be informative and sales-oriented. All take place at a trade show.

Setting #1 - Jack and Bob

Bob: Hey, Jack. Glad you stopped by.

Jack: Hello, Bob. Thought I'd slip behind enemy lines to the Infographix booth. What's this I hear about a new Windows platform?

Bob: That's right, Jack. RasterServe for Windows. It's our latest. We're really excited about it. Lot of shops running on PC's these days.

Jack: (hopefully) So, this is just some entry level system, huh?

Bob: Afraid not, Jack. We've got a complete upgrade path from Windows. It's easy to get started and our clients can eventually move up to a full-blown system. At their own pace and within their budget.

Jack: (in a low, soft voice) You guys hiring here?

Setting #2 - Competitor Salesman and Boss - Take 1

Boss: So, where've you been?

Salesman: Checking out the Infographix booth. Boss, you'd be amazed!

Boss: Don't tell me. I've heard about their new Colortrans vinyl process for banners. I'm already depressed.

Salesman: It's incredible. Infographix clients can use the same hardware and RasterServe software they're using for their large-format poster production. Just a different paper in the printer and a special vinyl in the laminator. Period.

Boss: (groaning) Don't tell me. They look great.

Salesman: (hesitantly) I don't know, boss. They looked pretty great to me.

Boss: Pass me the bromo...

Setting #2 - Competitor Salesman and Boss - Take 2

Boss: So, the Infographix booth looked pretty sharp, huh?

Salesman: Yeah, it really does.

Boss: I don't want to hear it. (happily)

Salesman: Um, boss. I've got some bad news for you.

Boss: (groaning) Don't tell me...

Salesman: Infographix has something called Eyematch now. Device-independent color. They use closed-loop color calibration technology.

Boss: Please stop...

Salesman: They say it's the same quality from scanner to output. What are they going to think of next?

Setting #2 - Competitor Salesman and Boss - Take 3

Salesman: Boy, the Infographix booth sure looks busy, doesn't it?

Boss: Don't remind me. I overheard one of their salespeople talking to a service bureau client. Did you know that RasterServe, their digital print controller, using one front end processor, can run up to 4 output devices? Electrostatic printers, color copiers, ink-jets, slide recorders, you name it.

Salesman: Really? Up to 4? You mean you don't have to add a new front-end processor for each output device?

Boss: (gloomily)  Sure don't. I guess that's why Infographix has the best price to performance ratio in the business.

Salesman: And why I've got a headache...
